I suppose I experience something similar. At the moment, I don't care how others percieve me but I do care how I percieve myself, so I want clothes that look gender neutral to me rather than making me look androgynous. It's pretty difficult to find stuff, but then, I was never much interested in (or good at) shopping in the first place.
I wear Converses* and they list both men's and women's sizes on the same box. That qualifies them as unisex in my book (provided they aren't a color or pattern that is typically perceived as masculine or feminine) despite the fact that I have to pick them up either in the men's section or the women's section. T-shirts can also just be cut and labelled "adult", rather than men's or women's. The ones I own are mostly souvenirs from some group, place, or event. I also own a plain baseball cap. No mesh, no logo, and in neutral colors like green or yellow. I just deal with underclothing and swimwear the best I can, since there aren't a lot of options. Everything else, I just mix and match which sections I get them from.
*Insert rant about how Converses used to be so much cooler fifteen-or-so years ago here.
