Okay, I am really proud of myself. First off, I'm not MtF strictly speaking, but let me tell my story and you'll see why it probably makes most sense to go here. I'm neutrois, but I tend to prefer female fashions. However, I've never actually bought any myself. I've borrowed family members' and things like that but a couple days ago, I finally actually purchased some girls clothes for myself in real life and everything.
So here's how it went down.
Last week was my first week of summer classes. I'm taking Cultural Anthropology and, more importantly for this topic, Intro to Public Speaking. In my speech class, we are graded on, among other things, confidence. I have not been confident for any of our practice speeches. However, when asked "Were you confident?", the answer is always "Yes." or, alternatively "Fucking A!". Anyways, I realized that so long as I keep my external appearance constant (hooray for aspie superpower: poor use of body language), no one need know that anything was up, that I am nervously twitching all over inside.
So, Monday, for that same speech class, I had to buy some 5"x8" index cards. The colleges book store didn't have this peculiar size card, so I had to go across town to Office Depot to buy some. So, I bought some cards. Then I decided I was going to try buying some girls clothes from the Target next door.
Now, mind you, I've tried this before, but I always chicken out, not even going into the other section to browse. I've checked out the socks before though. I like girls socks better and there's really no difference between the socks of the two sexes except that girls socks have a better variety of designs. But then I remembered my lesson from speech class. I grabbed some cool socks and went over to a clearance rack, and I browsed. People were around me and everything and I was just there looking through clothes like a normal person. Nobody suspected a thing. I bought a yellow spaghetti strap top and a two piece swimsuit, in addition to the three pairs of socks.
These are the first girl clothes that I really feel are mine. They are quite comfortable as well. Why can't guys shirts be this comfy!
It's really weird how much this class has affected me and my confidence levels. Today, I went into Hot Topic and bought some underwear, too. It's easy!
