Recs on packers?

Postby Saturday » Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:26 am

I have never had a need for a packer before--I've only even packed with a sock like three times, because my lower half is not the part of me I get dysphoria about. I don't even ever want bottom surgery. But man, the other night? I was wishing I had one.

A few of my friends took me and my girlfriend to a gay bar for the first time the other night, and it was insanely fun. There was a very awesome drag show, which is most of the reason we went. My friends kept trying to drag me up to tip the dancers, though, because the last time they were there, they had a very fun time and were talking about the fact that the dancers are very, ah, friendly. (One of my friends said that the dancer basically felt her up last time, which I was witnessing happening anyway--it's all in good fun and to be expected. XD) I told her that this was my entire reason for not wanting to go up there. Well, that, and I had a very good view of my girlfriend dancing from where I was.

I just realised that at the very least, for occasions like this, I need a packer. I've never needed one before, and I really don't want one until I move out to prevent any awkward questions from happening. (My mom is just getting to where she doesn't give my boy-clothes or binder a second glance.) So I wanna know, anybody have any recommendations on them? I'd mostly just like a really good soft packer and harness, but I'm not looking for anything too expensive, and I'm not really looking for an STP packer or anything.

(In other news, I'm really enjoying how open-minded people are around here, I'm discovering--the Waffle House run at 3 AM after the club resulted in a couple of people at the table asking what name I preferred and being totally cool about it. I'd given them my birth name when we met, because it's just comfortable to do so, but my FB page is under my preferred name. It was just a pretty awesome experience. I like all the acceptance I'm finding.)

I use this one. It's inexpensive but easily cleaned and has held up pretty well.

All the packer harnesses I have ever looked at are inferior to simply wearing it in the pouch of an athletic supporter, where the hard-cup is supposed to go. This won't allow you to whip it out, but it's comfortable and stops it from crawling around and getting into unrealistic places and positions.

goodvibes.com has one that's the same or much like it, but is available in colours to match a few different skin tones. I just posted the cheapest I could find.

Huh, that'd work. Also, thanks for the info on harnesses v. an athletic supporter--never would have thought of that. I can't see any circumstance in which I would need to whip it out, so that should work nicely. Thanks again!
