What's Our Goal

Sometimes we get asked what is our goal exactly with being two-spirited. Where as the end goal is much more apparent for Transexuals where they eventually try to change things so they can look and feel like who they are inside and even androgynes can at least find a mix of gender expression that works best for them.

Its not quite as obvious for people like us though because of a couple of reasons. We've got to share a single body so if our proposed gender expressions differ, our end points don't match. It certainly wouldn't be fair to favor one's opinion over the other either.

So then the question is begged, what is our goal if we can't really move too far in any direction. Every goal we do have has to be ok across the board. Where as yes compromise is a huge part of the experience, these compromises have limits.

So here is our goal as two-spirited.
Each of us the full right and ability to express themselves personality wise, interact with others without limitation, to be recognized and appreciated, and to be designated selection of attire half the time. Every effort to accommodate physical body upkeep is also made, for example length of hair or shaving often.

We have for the most part accomplished this goal and all that leaves us with is the desire to assist others with their journey. Now just because we've really kind of got the balance we both want, don't mistake the fact that we're being idle.

We're still moving forward together, but we're not trying to get anywhere.
